America's Scenic Byways

Pisgah Loop Scenic Byway

47 miles -

Loop around some of North Carolina’s most charming and remote landscapes on the 47-mile Pisgah Loop Scenic Byway. A portion of the byway is restricted to only four-wheel drive vehicles, providing an adventure for motorists seeking the road less traveled. Pass by unchanged stone-topped mountains and see what early settlers and soldiers saw. Follow the route that Kirk’s Raiders used during the Civil War to attack the Confederate Camp Vance outside Morganton. Along with its historical interests, the byway also offers picturesque views of several valleys, mountains, rivers, and rock faces.
