Viaduct Valley Way Scenic Byway

37.3 miles -

The Viaduct Valley Way Scenic Byway follows Routes 92 and 171, Viaduct Street and North Main Street through the Endless Mountain Region, passing numerous attractions, including historic villages, rich valley farmland, bluestone quarries and the Starrucca and Nicholson viaducts.

The Starrucca Viaduct was built in 1848 and is the oldest stone railroad bridge still in use by the commonwealth. At the time of its construction, the bridge's cost of $320,000 made it the most expensive railroad bridge in the world. The Nicholson Viaduct, also called the Tunkhannock Viaduct, was built in 1915 and is the largest poured concrete bridge in the world.
