Kolob Reservoir Road Scenic Backway
48.3 miles - 2 hours to drive, 1 to 2 days to explore
This backway covers the area from U-9 at Virgin, north to U-14 six miles east of Cedar City. It takes visitors through grassy meadows to ascend the red and white sandstone ledges of Zion National Park. It provides a view of the west side of the Park not available in any other location.
Kolob Reservoir at 8,000 feet provides fishing and summer recreation. From the top of Kolob Terrace the red-walled mesas of the Kolob Canyons section of Zion are prominent. As the backway nears its end (heading north), the northern portions of the drive are thickly forested with aspen and evergreen.
