The Swift Trail Parkway was designated on June 30, 1992, by the Arizona Department of Transportation. This route by the high-rising Mount Graham, the road rises in elevation along the way, from 3,200 feet to 10,720 feet. While summer temperatures at the base of the mountain hover in the 100s the summit rarely tops 78 degrees. The road climbs steeply, offering breathtaking views of the valley floor below. To the west one can see the Santa Catalinas and then the Gila Valley.
